Landscape Design

Every landscape has the potential to strengthen local biodiversity and inspire others to reimagine how beautiful and resilient California landscapes can be. Whether transforming a small front yard, creating a wildlife-friendly patio garden, or restoring acres of degraded habitat, I design gardens that are rooted in place, adapted to your site's unique microclimate, soils, hydrology, and existing plant community.

Every project integrates habitat creation, ecological resilience, and fire resilience into a cohesive design that is both beautiful and enduring. My gardens are designed to establish with minimal input of additional nutrients, and require low maintenance and little to no supplemental irrigation after establishment. Plant material is sourced through trusted wholesale growers and specialty nurseries, with locally sourced ecotype plants available for clients seeking to maximize ecological value. Every design also includes recommendations for lawn conversion, invasive species management, and sustainable mulch strategies, creating landscapes that continue to mature and improve over time.

Site Consultation

On-site consultations are available throughout the Bay Area for native plant landscape design, habitat gardens, and fire-resilient landscapes. For clients elsewhere in California, I also offer remote consultations via video walkthrough.

For Berkeley Grizzly Peak & Panoramic Hill Mitigation Area Residents

Free on-site consultation — no strings attached.

As a neighbor, I'm offering complimentary consultations to help residents navigate the new vegetation management requirements while improving the long-term ecological health of their landscapes.

During the visit, I'll evaluate your site's microclimate, sun and shade patterns, drainage, soils, existing vegetation, and defensible space. Together, we'll identify practical opportunities to improve fire resilience, strengthen biodiversity, and create a landscape that is both ecologically functional and visually compelling.

Whether you're planning to tackle the work yourself or considering a larger landscape transformation, my goal is to provide you with with clear, site-specific recommendations and a deeper understanding of your garden's ecological potential.
